Question Submitted: Will inspectors be required to enforce the lower lead content requirements contained in the latest CSA B125.3-12 standard? If so, would there be a phase in period to allow wholesalers to get old stock of the shelves. Since CSA B125.1-05 is the standard referenced in the new O.Reg 332/12, won’t inspectors be compelled to reference the 05 standard in a similar fashion to how we couldn’t reference the new B64 standard when it came out?
Interpretation: YES The 2012 Building Code has been amended to cover the Low lead requirements in the Ministers Ruling: MR13-S-24 and signed by the Director (Brenda Lewis) of the Building and Development Branch. This Ruling comes into force on January 1, 2014.
