Question: Attached, please find a new type of mixing valve. (Re: Honeywell AMX Series) Is it acceptable to use in a residential application? The specs show how easy it is to adjust temperature above 120F with an Allen wrench.
Answer: Conforming to ASSE 1017 Standard is only one of certification requirement of the applicable CSA B125 Stand. The conformance to ASSE 017 Standard will indicate the device is suitable for (use as a) Master Control. However, if the device only shows the conformance to the applicable CSA Standard B125 and ASSE 1016 Standard, it will only be permitted to serve a single fixture fitting. It would be considered to be good idea to note that this device can be adjusted easily and most importantly to advise the consumer to leave the settings at 49C or 120F, if installed in a residential occupancy as per 7.6.5.1.
